Worried about Dad

My dad has been abusing pain pills for as long as I can remember. He doesn't see that he has a problem and he does have legitimate back pain, narrowing of the spine and possibly severe arthritus. He doesn't see that he has a problem, he thinks that he needs the pills bc he does have pain. He goes through I don't know how many a month its a lot and its not just one type, its loritabs if he can get them, mostly percocets and hydrocodone. Then when he's out of all options he gets lyricas and those make him 10 times worse, he doesn't know what planet he is on. I know it takes a person to admit they have a problem, but I don't see him every admiting this. I just need help on what to do to help him. I don't want to go there one day and see he's taken to many and something bad happen. please help.

I forgot to mention that he was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year and has gone through treatments and had his bladder removed. As of now no signs of cancer. (YEAH!) He also smokes at least 2 packs a day and has admitted he is depressed, bc he can't work and all the financial problems fall on my mom.

If you've done any reading on this forum, you know you can't make your dad see that he has a problem.  That epiphany is entirely up to him as is the desire to recover.  What you and your mom can do is get help from Al-Anon so you get the facts about addiction and learn some new skills to make your lives better no matter what your dad may do.  You only have control over your own actions.
