roxy symptoms

My daughter claims she hasnt been on roxy for months, but I know its a lie.  She does'nt know when she tells me the truth or lies to me. She told me not long ago that she quit her job because of burn out but, that she wouldnt get another because she knew she'd get high and she was trying to detox.  She has stolen from friends and stores. Not lately that I know of. All the boys she goes with are either on drugs, have been on drugs, in jail even dead.
Lately Ive been acting supportive and telling my husband "not her dad" that I dont believe she's getting high like her cousin who lives with friends because of roxy addiction is telling other members of his family.  My nephew O/D thank god he lived.  I had to tell my sis-in-law her son was hanging out with him, I felt compelled to tell her because if her son died and I didnt tell her he was hanging with the other nephew, I know it would be hard on my consience.  I had to tell my sisters family I was backing out of their drama because I have to take care of my own child.  We are astranged now because she say "your daughter is as bad as my son"  Im not disputing that.  I just dont want family drama over these kids.  I want them all off drugs. How can I tell if my kid is still on drugs.  I was also told she was on heroine.  I dont want to believe that! Is roxy much different, I dont know.

hello and welcome to MH. i am sorry you have to go through this with your daughter. i know the pain and heartache it causes.
If you suspect they are being snorted, listen for the "sniffles."
it could cause excessive energy or sleepiness, depends on the dosage.
weight lose is also common.  a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows (high when they have the drugs, low when they can't score or are in W/D)   if snorting, she will have severe nasal/sinus problems (chronic congestion, bloody noses, sinus headaches, etc.)  small pin constricted pupils, many times those using roxys do snort them.
if she is hanging around with people that use, that says alot.
it is recommended that they change the people,places and things associated with their use.
does your daughter live with you? how old is she?
it is extremely hard to quit and stay sober without help and support. counseling and/or support groups.
addicts (i know the word is unpleasant and very hard to swallow)
will lie,manipulate,deceive,steal, twist the truth,blame others, to try to make you believe that they arent using.

thank you for your comment.  Im just now trying to find my way around MH?  My daughter is 22, she is my only child. She is moving back home this month she still has her own apt. but is feeling safer here.  Im sure what happened there but she doesnt seem to be going back for any of her things.  Her roommate was a boy from HS whom had a gf and she a bf so I know it couldnt have been a lovers dispute.  The main thing I feel is happy she is coming back home and since she has been here she hasnt acted like she's getting high, until the other night it was her 22nd birthday and after working until 12;30 she came home and showered and went out with friends and didnt come home for 27hrs. she did answer my calls and tell me where she was, or at least where she wanted me to tell me she was. She started giving me money this past week, 65.00 one nite, 90.00 another and 65.00 last night.  That makes me happy and gives me a feeling of some sanity.  Her mood has been good.  I was going to drug test her after being gone for 27 hrs. she waittress' and makes good money.  She told me she wanted to start going me money to hold for her and though I think it should be more Im greatful its something.  I decided not to give her a drug test, since she came home at 4am, slept, took a shower and washed her uniform on her own (something I always do) because I want her to take pride in the way she looks.  Most times she drags herself from bed and goes to work barely brushing her teeth.  I have hope that this good sign means she is'nt getting high again.  She broke up with her bf she said her wasnt trating her right, then confest to using drugs after being clean for 2 yrs.  Im proud of her and he didnt dispute it when I asked him.  He is again going to mtgs, but she doesnt trust him so she wont take him back. I almost wish she would at least he'd be a good influence on her(maybe).  My husband and I have been off alcohol and drugs ( me both) him 27yrs. me 19 yrs. My daughter never knew me to be on anything in her life.  She knew her chances of addiction and I believed she wouldnt do them. ;(
She offers to go to counseling with me, but has only gone 1 time, its a beginning I think. I will watch for those symptoms you mentioned, I am not in denial, I do know roxy is hard to come off of with long term success, I have seen it in my nephew and her.  I pray for them both everyday.  My sister still wont speak to me and now my oldest nephew 35 and I are astranged.  Addiction is very sad for all families. I hope to continue getting in put from the forum
