Contraindications for Benedryl?

Contraindications for Benedryl?

I'm trying to taper off Tramadol for a back problem.  I've already experienced previous withdrawal symptoms so I already know that I'll have to taper off.  Is there any contraindication to taking OTC Benedryl at night to help me sleep all night?

Usually benadryl, taken temporarily is a perfectly safe option (and effective) for sleep. As long as you don't have any allergies to antihistamines....you'll be fine taking it.

Start out with a dose of 25 mg a night...and if that doesn't do the trick after a few tries...you could up it to 50 mg ONCE a night.  And don't take more than that, and don't mix it with anything else to help you sleep (including alcohol).

Of course...check with your doc first, but yes, it is commonly used for sleep and is pretty safe.
