Does any one have any info on Ativan addiction

Heloo I have a friend that was originally RX Ativan for anxiety 4mg daily now she take 10 mg daily any info on that? Thanks

hi!  oooooo, 10 mg is a lot....BUT, not impossible to taper down from....above all, do NOT  have her go cold turkey off ativan....it could be super life threatening, especially being on such a high dose....

i was taking 3 mg of ativan every night for 5 years for sleep issues....actually started out at only .5 mg...then, over the years, doctor had to up my dose because my body would become tolerant....eventually was taking 3-4 mg every night....saw the writing on the wall....knew i HAD to quit or my doctor would quit writing scripts for me and i knew the ativan would just stop working at some point....i mean, you can only take so much of that stuff before it starts doing the exact OPPOSITE for you, causing MORE anxiety and more sleeplessness....

ok, so, can you taper under a good doctor's supervision?  are you getting your scripts from a doctor?  let us know....

i successfully tapered from 3 mg down to nothing in several months, with absolutely no ill side effects, but did it entirely under a doctor's supervision....

let me know more and i can help in any way i'm able....glad to share any personal experiences and anything i went through, had to take, or whatever.....
