I just called my spine dr. - clonidine

by MonkeysWife, Dec 29, 2006 12:00AM
He would like me not to begin a taper or try cold turkey again until I come in to see him on Wed. 1/3.  The nurse I spoke with said sometimes he will give a 7 day patch of clonidine that helps with the w/d symptoms.  is anyone familiar with clonidine?

yep clonidine is a blood pressure medication it stablizes your blood pressure during withdrawals (its popular for opiate and bezodiazopine withdrawals) it also mildly reduces ainxiety. my doctor gave me clonidine in pill form during my at home detox they come in 0.1mg 0.2mg 0.3mg. (iv never heard of a clonidine patch before though). by the way clonidine is NOT a narcotic. they give clonidine in detoxes as part of the protocall along with bentyl (for stomach cramps), and quinine (for leg cramps)
