Will I have withdrawl(withdrawal) symptoms?

Will I have withdrawl(withdrawal) symptoms?

I am 58 and have taken vicodin for almost three months.  I had rotator cuff surgery.  I started out taking maybe 10 a day. For the past month I take maybe three a day.  I can go as long as 14 hours before I feel I need to take one because of the pain.  I don't take one 'just because', I take it because my shoulder hurts and the doctor said to take 2 before physical therapy. I have physical therapy three times a week at the hospital.  Do you think I will have a problem stopping it?  I am going to try and just do two a day and then one a day and hopefully stopping.  What do you all think?

I just read your post. I have a torn rotator cuff and was wondering if you can tell me how painful it was before and after surgery.  I will be scheduling surgery shortly and have heard stories of how painful it is and a long recouperating period.  Thanks.

Well.....It was harder for me, as I am in a wheelchair!  Luckily it was my left shoulder! That's why I tore my rotator cuff because of wheeling for 38 years!  I was in a car accident when I was 20.  Yes, it is one of the most painful surgeries.  You start therapy the next day.  Keep ice on it and of course, I took vicodin.  I took two before physical therapy.  I think it would be easier on an able bodied person, as I have to use my arm for everything!!  Just do what they say.  I have heard from many people that it can take up to a year to get it all back.  Good luck to you!
