if your on painkillers for a long time, does it slow down your metabolism?

I really need some answers about this any info would help, in addition to being on lortabs for 2 years i gained 50 lbs. i will admit i stopped going to the gym as much cuz i was feeling lazy, but i wasn't really eating more. i have been clean 10 days, back in the gym everyday, and eating right, hopefully i will get my old body back soon. anyone with similar situation?
