Compulsive Lying

by Carmine909, Jul 27, 2009 12:39AM
I recently became involved with someone who I am realizing is a compulsive liar - about all kinds of crazy things.  This individual told me that they had OCD but that it was more regarding the way the mind thinks and logical order rather than germs, etc.   Every time I question him on one of his suspicious stories, he turns it around and blames ME for being a compulsive liar.   He is constantly paranoid that the world is out to get him and he is obcessed with needing to have answers to the most mundane questions.   Does the fact that he accuses ME of being the compulsive liar point to the fact that he knows this about himself?   I have noticed significant highs and lows in his mood swings and a very fast and aggressive approach to dating.   What might his actual diagnosis be?

Sounds like paranoia which includes projection,  seeing your unwanted traits in others.  Quite possible bipolar disorder and OCD as well.

The really important point is not to worry about a specific diagnosis, but to get away from him as quickly and completely as possible.  He is a train wreck--protect yourself.  Don't even think about trying to save him, regardless of how compelling his positive side may be or how good it feels to be wanted so intensely.

He is trouble, trouble, trouble.
