IN MARCH 09  I HAD A CT OF THE CHEST PERFORMED AND IT REVEALED 3 NON CALCIFIED SUBCENTIMETER NODULES WITHIN THE RIGHT UPPER AND MIDDLE LUNG ZONES. I HAD A CT SCAN JUNE 23 09 AND I STATES WITHIN THE RIGHT LUNG THERE ARE FEW PARENCHMAL DENSITIES AND NONCLCIFIED PLEURAL NODULES IDENTIFIED.  TWO ARE SEEN IN THE RIGHT UPPER LOBE BOTH MEASURE AP 5MM HOWER HAVE A SOMWHATE ELONGATED APPERARANCE ON RECONSTRUCED IMAGES SUGGESTING THEY RELATE TO ATELECTASIS OR SCAR. 3MM PLEURAL BASED DENSITY IS SEEN IN THE RIGHT MIDDLE LOBE DUE TO ITS SMALL SIZE THIS IS OF DOUBTFUL CLINICAL  SIGNIFICANCE 3 MM PLEURAL BASE DENSITY IS SEEN IN THE RIGHT LOWER LOBE 4 MM PLEURAL BASED DENSITY IS SEEN IN THE RIGHT MIDDLE LOBE 5 MM NODULE IS SEEN IN THE ANTERIOR RIGHT LOWER LOBE THIS ALSO HAS A MILDLY ELONGATED APPEARANCE ON RECONSTRUCED IMAGES ---CAN SOMEONE PUT THIS IN TERMS I CAN UNDERSTAND I HAVE HAD BREATHING PROBLEMS SEEN MARCH MY DOC ? KEEPS GIVING ME INHAULERS NO HELP AND TELLS ME TO HAVE A CT SCAN IN 6 MONTHS

Hi,
Your two scans are not conclusive. They merely show some tiny nodules. These nodules may be caused by many diseases, including cancer, infection, inflammation etc. Have you got a spirometry, sputum examination and baseline blood works done?
One way to approach this issue of lung nodules may be to get a PET-CT scan. This will show the metabolic activity of these nodules and narrow down the possible different diagnoses.
Meanwhile, please consult a pulmonologist.
