Questions regarding IV Rocephin

Hello everyone,
I was diagnosed with neurological chronic Lyme in November of 2008 and started treatment 2 months ago with Bicillin shots and recently added Mepron. I do not tolerate oral meds well at all as one of my terrible symptoms is severe nausea. I was told that since I have been chronically ill for so many years, I have probably had it for many, many years undiagnosed.
Well this doesn't seem to be doing the trick so my LLMD wants me to do IV Rocephin and I am to get my PICC line this week and start out at low doeses and work my way up to 2 grams. My question is, do I need to take this Actigall that my doc told me might be a necessity? It is so hard for me to take ANYTHING by mouth and the supplements are hard on my stomach too. Is the Rocephin going to make my nausea a lot worse or will it make me feel better? I am so scared that I will not be able to tolerate it but my doc says that I need it to try and get my neuro stuff under control.  I also tested positive for Babesia so that is why she is using the Mepron. I am told to take 2 tsp of the Mepron a day but so far can only tolerate 1/4 tsp.

Thank you in advance, sorry if this post is a little scattered....

Jenny :-)

Hi Jenny,  I am currently on IV rocephin, and was also very concerned about stomach upset.  It does not bother me one bit,and I have a really tweaky stomach too.  Be sure to get a very good probiotic and take it every day. (If you are not already.)

I take the Actigal also.  It does nothing to my stomach, and it may prevent some serious gallbladder issues.  I really hear you on not wanting anymore tummy problems.  I am the same way.  Rocephin has been absoulely a breeze, believe it or not.

If you take any supplements, be sure and find the "whole foods" kind as much as possible.  This means they pull the vitamins/minerals directly from food and make a pill out of it, it is not "rocks" that can be really hard on your tummy.

God bless you, Amy
