rare disorders

i have had muscle twitching for about 5 years. i had an emg that was negative and my neuro called this benign faciulation syndrome-does this ever turn into ALS? i am so worried over this !

How are you? What other symptoms are present? Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS is one of the most common neuromuscular diseases.The disease occurs at random with no clearly associated risk factors. Genetics may be contributory and it is important to evaluate your family history also. It is good that the EMG result was negative. Benign fasciculation syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by fasciculation of various voluntary muscles in the body. The cause is also not known and the chance that it will turn to ALS is not likely. More studies may need to be done for this. Take care and regards.
