I was not offended at all.  Anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, no matter what it is we all suffer in different ways. They all suck!!  Good luck to you everyone, I will keep you in my prayers...

ohh sorry, i didn't take in that bit..... sorry yeah it is exactly what he is saying isn't it.... me n my gob sometimes...lol

I do agree with med's but sometimes i think people can dive into them b4 trying anything else that may have the same outcome without the possiable after effects, but u are right i would prefer to be on a tablet for the rest of my life than being in the home for the rest of it....... Hope i didn't offend u, big hug if i did...

All we can do is make suggesstions, a shrink would really help u find the right therapy and/or meds to help get u out of this.HOWEVER, there are many things you can do now to help naturally, to do in combination with the other stuff. Excersize diet and sleep all affect anxiety so I would talk to a dr about vitamins and cardio work outs. Make sure to avoid caffeine and excess sugar, eat foods high in fiber, stay away from excess salt/sodium, drink lots of water, and try to sleep 8 hours a night. I haven't had caffeine in 6 years and have more energy then before. All of these things help me and I no longer suffer as severely as I used too. My anxious episodes are now few and far between.just try it, Staying healthy can't hurt!

I regretfully disagree that Jack's condition is not turning into agoraphobia, he said he hasn't worked or gone to school in two years because of his condition.  That right there tells you he cannot leave home safely.  Doesn't really matter what it's labeled, illness or disease, it is controlling your life and that's what needs to change.

Yes, medicine can be addictive, but you have to weigh addiction to quality of life.  Would you rather have to take a medicine for the rest of your life or stay in your home the rest of your life?  You have to ask yourself these questions and proceed from there.  It would be awesome if a little therapy would solve your issue, but usually the therapist couples therapy with medicine.  Jack don't be affraid of medicine, there are so many to choose from and lots that are non-addictive. I promise you it will change your life and get you back into society.  Best of luck to you...

HIya, just thought id butt in an say that as a sufferer of Agoraphobia for the last 16yrs i can say that the poster hasn't mentioned anything regarding not being able to leave his house or is fearing open spaces, crowds etc.....cause this is what Agoraphobia is.

Plus anxiety i wouldn't consider to be a disease, it is an illness but not something that invades the body so therefore not a disease........

To the poster, i would personally try and explore therapy first and if then this doesn't help then try med's, as yes they are great at helping anxiety but can be very addictive and hard to come off of and sometimes it takes several attemps to get the right med and or dose of med to take...... which can prove a problem within itself.

Please don't see this as having a go cause it's just friendly advice from one anxiety sufferer to another, i appreciate we all have different views....

Jack you are suffering from major anxiety which is turning into aggoraphobia. I've had panic disorder for 20 years and I have been on and off medicine for 20 years.  Was your medicine not working, is that why you stopped?  If so, you need to try a different one.  There are 30-50 meds out there now that work.  I promise you, you can and will get your life back with the right med.  I did.  If you are not taking the med because you are afraid that others will judge you, you need to get that out of your head.  I use to believe the same thing and I wouldn't tell anyone for years.  Now all my friends and family know and they are a huge supporrt.  Your disease is controlling your life and you need to get help right now.  Once I found the right doctor and medicine, I felt amazing.  Trust me, I have struggled off and on over the years and tried to go off meds because I thought they were too harmful.  What I really found out was, it is more harmful for me to be off the meds so I stopped fighting it a long time ago and continue to take them.  Please see a doctor and don't be afraid to start taking meds, it will change your life.  Also, remember there are thousands of us out there, you are not alone, and you are not crazy.  Best of luck to you and keep us posted

I agree with Julie.  Insist that your doc do a full work-up, including diagnostic tests in addition to the labs you had.  Then, you can officially rule out a physiological reason for your symptoms and finally start addressing the anxiety.

Any which way, you need to re-claim your life.  It also sounds to me as though you are suffering from chronic anxiety...and until you get a grip on it...you will continue to suffer.  There are so many treatments out there for anxiety, that no one should have to live with it to this extent.

Best of luck and be sure to keep us posted!

Have u only had the blood test done?  Maybe u should go back to ur doc and tell him/her how ur feeling and discuss how terrible ur still feeling....Maybe he/she can refer u on to someone else and do futher tests to put ur mind at rest.  Although to me it sounds like ur having chronic anxiety..... Keep shouting till ur doc listens, thye like to thob us anxiety suffers off and makes us feel like we are just wasting their time, but we have to right to be heard just like anyone else.  Godd-luck
