I think I am losing it

Can anxiety lead you to be itchy at night?  I don't have a fear of bugs but I feel like lately I am being bitten all the time.     I have a crawly feeling that I used to get occasionally but now it seems constant and I feel like I am being attacked at night.  I have some bites but nothing like what "I feel" like is happening.

On a side note I found out we have ticks in our house (more than I would like to admit) and we are having our house treated on Monday.

I have always been a bit anxious.  I have been on meds for symptoms occasionally.  I don't like how Lexapro and Xoloft make me feel.  I am wondering if I am just sinking into a place where I need medication or is there a suppliment that I can take to ease my mind if that is what this is?

Thanks

Thanks for your replies just knowing that someone can relate to where I am coming from really does help.  Those close to me I think are frustrated with my behaviour.  I haven't really told any of them how I am feeling right now.  I have a high stress job and a lot of family commitments at the current time.  I think the whole ticks in the house pushed me over the edge.

The house was treated yesterday. I cannot tell you how gross having the ticks in the house and how gross the chemicals they used to treat the house are.  You walk in after having to be gone for four hours and you just come in to not a horrid smell but one that you know is toxic.

They come back in a week to treat again.  Hopefully, this gets under control quickly.

The anxiety though I am not sure how to deal with.  I really don't want to go back on an antidepressant although when I do it helps.  I am tired of not feeling right...my hands tingle, I am having muscle spasms, and the itching and I do believe it is all the stress from the anxiety.  I would like to try natural approach but I am concerned about not knowing enough about those alternatives and don't want to mess myself up more.

I found, to my surprise, when in an anxiety group, that a lot of people seemed to scratch themselves, as if itchy. My own skin on my hand is always cracked. Never put it down to the anxiety though. Until I saw all these others. It might come hand in hand with the condition. Who knows.

What I would do firstly is get the tick issue in control.  They multiply rapidly so you may have more than you think.  The entire house should be treated.  All the bedding curtins, anything material should be washed in hot water to kill the ticks.  Presumably you have animals.  They, too, must be treated.  Ticks are terrible for their health.  As far as the anxiety issue.  I think just the fact that you know there are ticks in the house that are bitting you, would make you feel itchy.  Is it anxiety thats cause the itch....actually probably not, its only purose is to make you aware that you have another issue (ticks).

Itching from anxiety can happen, just not in the magnitude that you suggest.  I, too, have experienced itching and for no apparent reason.  I am chaulking it up to anxiety.  It seems when the anxiety is relieved so is the itching.

So dont forget, tomorrow to treat ALL of the possible sources at the same time.  If you dont you will re-infest.

Good luck and hope this helps a bit.

There's a couple of really good herbs that help control anxiety.  For long term use, Milky Oats works really well.  If you need something more quickly Kava Kava can calm you down fast but it is not without side effects one of which is constipation.  If you take kava you must drink LOTS of water as it is very astringent and dries up your intestines.

It helps me not to ruminate (continually think about) my anxiety symptoms. Reassuring myself that I am ok and get a distraction activity started is what works for me i.e. music, walking, or other excercise etc. If I were you I would call your Dr. and inform him/her of your symptoms.

Just the tick issue could send me itching..

Keep talking and stay in touch.
PEACE
