Snoppy, trust me, I am a highly athletic, 27 year old male. I am in good shape. Even THOSE whom u think might judge, because they seem perfect on the outside, are SO CAUGHT UP in their own sh**, that they don´t even have time to look at others and focus on their weaknesses.
That being said, I think there is something even more important with this issue. Before I go further, let me tell you that I understand u. I was overweight and self conscious, that was my highest motivation to get in shape. If you want to get in shape, you can, trust me.
The most important thing with this type of anxiety is to understand that IT DOESN´T MATTER. You are not less valuable or more valuable for being overweight or underweight or in "perfect shape" (God knows what that means...).... IT DOES NOT MATTER. What matters is that you are comfortable with what you are doing. Are you comfortable with your eating habits? Your excersise habits?.... It is something to give some thought into.... I had public/social anxiety. YOU CAN OVERCOME IT. I used to sweat perfuselly in public!!
I'm sorry, I know some people can be very rude with no compassion for the overweight. I hope you don't let it stop you though, give yourself credit for still getting out there and walking! It's the best way to take weight off.
Are you sure they are watching you or maybe you just think they are? Most people are so caught up in their own lifes they could care less about other people. With anxiety you can tend to "think" people are looking at you. Do you ever feel scared and don't know why? Are you super aware of your body and worry about your heart beating too fast, or start sweating on your palms? If you do it's anxiety and a doctor can help you overcome it. I think yours devoloped from people judging for your being overweight and went on from there. Talk to you doctor, and tell him/her everything, they have heard everything. Good luck to you & God Bless. (keep walkin'!)
