Low abdominal pain, burning while urinating, frequent trips to the bathroom

2 months ago I tested positive for a urinary tract infection, was put on bactrim, 2 weeks later I went back with the same burning, pressure and pain, they said it was not all the way gone, put me on cipro.,  2 weeks ago i go back worse then ever and i test negative, but I have pain and pressure below my belly, frequent trips to the br mostly with little success, and I burn when I urinate and when i am not  urinating so she put me on another antibiotic even though I tested negative and I am set up with a urologist next month. I am a nurse aide and I have the most trouble at work while lifting patients and the only time I feel good is while I take antibiotics or when I take AZO and Cystex pills.  What can be wrong and how can i ease my troubles until next month?  I only drink water and milk now and quit coffee and soda altogether now.  Thanks

There are many things that can cause this pain it could be chronic cystitis or interstitial cystitis.  The symptoms are the same and a good urologist can help diagnosis the problems.  Either way you pain, burning and bladder pain.  The self help things etc. can help you while you see a diagnosis!
We have an IC and pelvic pain support forum here on this site actually two, listed below.  There is actually an article on the physical relationship on the first forum.  I am also an IC support group leader and director of MOARK IC.  If you need more info or some links feel free to pm me.

Hello,

One needs to look for the cause of the recurrent UTI. It could be due to the harboring of the bacteria within the urinary tract resulting in recurrent UTI. This could be in the kidney or the urinary bladder. Quinolones like ciprofloxacin are one of the good drugs for the E. Coli but nowadays increasing incidence of resistance has been shown with the use of quinolones and in fact one of the older antibiotics like septran has been found to be quite useful for these bacteria. I’ll suggest to undergo tests ultrasound or intravenous urography to look for the cause of recurrent UTI. You might need a course of prophylactic antibiotics for prolonged periods for 6 months- 1 yr.

Moreover Females are anatomically more prone to UTI compared to males. However, you continue drinking plenty of fluids and taking additional steps like alkasoda/alkacitra can help.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
