I would have it checked, have they looked for nodules in your thyroid? I had four nodules, I also had swallowing and hoarseness issues. I would swallow food and it would get caught in my lower part of my throat, then I would get raging hiccups and have to take a drink which would hurt until it flushed the food down...I am a singer and was getting hoarse after rehearsals and performances. They took out the right side of my thyroid, and my symptoms disappeared, however, they did find cancer, so now the other side must come out too. There are vocal nerves running through your thyroid, if you have nodules they could be irritating your nerves. I would get an ultrasound.
