thyroglobulin

by frosenam, Jan 22, 2009 04:45PM
I have papillary thyroid cancer.  I was diagnosed in 1999 and two surgeries to remove the thyroid, lymphnodes in the neck and mediastinam as the cancer had spread.  I had radioactive iodine and my thyroglobuline went all the way to 3.  It stayed lower than 20 for about 7 years and than began to climb.  My thyroglobulin is now 67 and I have had another round of radioactive iodine with no affect.  I have had numerous whole body scans, thryogen stimulated pet scans, ultra sounds, and aspiration biopsys but nothing has revealed where the cancer is growing.  Can you suggest an alternative route.

Also, I have never been able to understand hypo and hyer thyroid when you are a thyroid cancer patient and the tsh is supposed to be suppressed so your tsh is always .1 or below how is a person living as a hypo thyroid patient or a hyperthyroid patient.  I have always felt lousy since this began.  I am fatigued, I have very dry skin, so dry it bleeds, I am always cold (and I always use to be hot)  I am unable to lose weight and with each radioactive iodine treatment I gain weight.  Can you tell me how a person with this condition is suppose to feel.
