Night Cough

I am having very hard night coughs. There is phlem right in the opening to my lungs. It flaps at night. I have tried Claritin and other OTC allergy meds. I am currently taking Prilosec. Had chest xrays and they come back clear. I am sleeping on two pillows and it still happens about 12:00 or 2:00 or so each morning. I am not a smoker. I have no pain or fever. I am loosing so much sleep due to this.
Someone said to elevate the head of the bed on a couple bricks. I haven't tried that yet but I figured sleeping on two pillows was about the same.
I can't decide if I have acid reflux or allergies. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

could be GERD or allergies

I would suggest that you use the bricks instead of the 2 pillows( it's better for u). Put a cool humidifier in your room. Also see ur dr, it could be allergies. Good Luck!!
