I have just been diagnosed with GravesGraves disease Disease. I have read a lot of information about this disease and I have a question. I have never had any problem with my thyroid levels until July during a routineRoutine sputum culture yearly blood work.
I have read that you should not eat or drink anything high in iodine before a thyroid scan. My question is: I have been on a diet since March 2009 and to date have lost 72 lbs.. I have only drank diet lemonade the entire time and have eaten lots and lots of yogurt and jello. I read that lemonade, yogurt and anything with red food dye causes high iodine levels. Could this diet be effecting my thyroid levels?
I don't think your diet has affected your results significantly in terms of the testing. And the thyroid problem coincides with, not caused by the diet.
However, generally health and diet can make things better or worse with how your body handles it.
Have you ONLY been drinking diet lemonade, yogurt and jello, or you have other things in your diet?
Diet drinks are generally not good to be consuming in large quantities. Can you replace that with water, or unsweetened ice tea, diluted lemon juice etc? I would like to see that you are eating plenty of vegetablesVegetable laxative, fruits and lean proteins. Also taking a vitamin supplement.
