losing weight and being on thyroid meds????

by only41, Jan 26, 2008 03:21AM
I had a total thyroidectomy in November of '05 but had a lot of complications due to a surgeons errors.   But am curious to know how people lose weight without their thyroid????   Can a low dose of medication (levo.... the thyroid med) be helping keeping weight on me?
thanks, only_41

Once your levels (with medication) are in the normal range and your body is healed, you should have no problems maintaining your weight.  I am very thin and I am hypo--I know a lot of people always think hyper--I was hyper before, but I still have no problems with my weight now that I am hypo.  Just eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly.  Take care.
