Common Questions About "Narcolepsy Yahoo Answers"

I finally went in for a sleep study and was diagnosed with narcolepsy! Narcolepsy is really rare, but at least a sleep study will rule out or confirm narcolepsy, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and probably other conditions as well. Good luck!

thanks for giving him a quick reply. If I were his family I would also be desperate for answers - any answers at all. The narcolepsy dx just didn't sound right to me, but I'm no expert. Thanks again.

s or Lupus, has also been diagnosed with or shown symptoms of Narcolepsy. I have read recently that Narcolepsy has been determined to be auto-immune in nature, and wonder if the presence of one or both of these disorders in my genetics was the cause of my Narcolepsy. Has there been any research done on the subject?

narcolepsy please I need to know everything there is to know I cannot find all the answers to my questions on the Internet.

t start till June I can go to class next quarter Yahoo. Even if USC changes my mind about who does it I can still push it off till summer. I can't stay home I just can't.

I walked to the library without stopping and back (with a bathroom break and grabbed a couple of books inbetween) with the walker. I wasn't able to do it without stopping a lot 2 weeks ago. Yahoo. Oh and I started PT exercises on Thursday. It went well. I'm still working on getting off the walker.

So I usually ask yahoo answers for help...which this time I was not thankful for. I needed help with this one question that I CAN'T find in my textbook. I got to responses saying I was lying, that I won't succeed in life, that I'm pathetic for asking a homework question like this. I feel terrible and now can't even study because of what they said...can someone just...idk cheer me up? I try so hard in college and now I'm so stressed with finals I can't take it anymore.

I am looking for answers as to why I have severe altered taste and tingling of the face. I have no other symptoms of Palsy at the moment. I wonder if anyone has experienced altered taste as a precursor to Bells Palsy. Apparently the cranial nerve controls more than half of the taste receptors on the tongue and in the mouth so I wonder if I have some sort of nerve damage. I mostly have a strange sour minty/menthol taste which is all pervading and affects everything I eat and drink.

When I was in highschool I was diagnosed with PCOS and Narcolepsy. I recently found my sleep studies and found that the doctor said my sleeping was characteristic of Narcolepsy but he didn't think I had it. I wonder now[ if it is the PCOS as noticed a big difference in energy levels after I stopped taking birth control. Is anyone else out there suffering from debilitating lack of energy. I find I can hardly get up in the morning let alone take care of my house, husband and child.

I am grinning ear to ear. A giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I recently switched neurologist's offices and started over with a new team, hoping to find the answers to the parts of my illness that remained unexplained by the POTS/syncope/migraines diagnoses. In particular, the fact that sometimes I am completely paralyzed when I "come to" from a syncope.

People online have said it can cause brain damage but is this only possible through intentional huffing? People on yahoo answers were apparently trolling me and telling me i had damaged myself, which i think is horrible since i'm suffering from severe anxiety.

Hey, I so happen to stumble on this thread while trying to search for some answers. What are your symptoms for narcolepsy? I have always had vivid dreams.. ever since I was 3 or 4. I fall asleep in class almost everyday (actually throughout my undergraduate career. I always have to learn the stuff on my own because I can't stay awake in class). It doesn't matter if I sleep 10 hours or 12 hours a day. I can't pay attention in class and start thinking about other things..

I am diagnosis with narcolepsy and have had symptoms for 5 years now. I have been taking 500 mg. of nuvigil for over 2 years. Plus, 60 mg of adderall a day. My symptoms have slowed down a little, but I have to take 2 naps a day and not drive anywhere. I have sleep studies twice a year and it seems to get worse each time. Its very aggravating to me! It seems like something would help. I see a team of specialists at Vanderbilt, but I need something else, but what? Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi everyone. I am not familiar with Narcolepsy or sleep disorders in general but my sleep has always been different. Typically, I fight daytime sleepiness with caffeine. In prior years, the caffeine has been a lot but I’ve lowered it significantly.

I have Narcolepsy- My vitamin B 12 level is 235- should it be higher for my condition?

Although the pt has RLS and PLMS, the arousal associated with these do not likely explain EDS- given a short overall sleep and REM latency, consider narcolepsy clinically. I had 156 arousals, 110 spontaneous, the rest due to limb movement. I also spent most of my sleep time in sleep stages 1 and 2, whith REM episodes scattered randomly. I had no time in stage 3, and when I had REM sleep it was from wake to REM with no progression through the other cycles.

The combination of this study and my first MSLT nap study produced a perfect pattern for diagnosis of Narcolepsy. Has there ever been a study to look at the coorelation between the 2 diseases. Would many CFS sufferers be classified narcoleptic if they took the appropriate test? Narcolepsy leads back to hippothalmus and lack of production of hypocretin/orexin(?). Seems like all things lead to hippothalmus. Thank you!

Best answer is very useful if you have a bunch of kids participating, like with Yahoo Answers - but even then they'll just rate the ones they find funny.
