Burn patch from facial waxing

I've been getting facial waxings for years without any problems.  Two days ago, I got one and afterwards saw a 2 inch by half inch vertical dark red mark on my cheek.  It looks like a burn.  There is no pain and the skin is not broken, but I'm worried it's a burn and will leave a permanent mark.  Has anyone had anything like this?  The wax felt lind of hot this time; usually I can't feel the wax temperature at all.  If the wax was too hot, wouldn't the entire face be burned?
