curly hair to straight hair makes it very dry and straw like.

by littleangelerin93, Sep 15, 2009 07:33PM
I have naturally really curly hair and i like to straighten it almost every other day. I have noticed recently that im getting some hair loss, and that it looks really straw-like. I want to keep straightening it, but i also want it to look healthy. Is there anything i can do?

Are you protecting your hair from the heat it takes to blowdry and straighten your hair? The heat produced from a straightening iron will literally burn your hair off at the scalp which is probably what is happening. Use a moisturizing shampoo, a good conditioner, towel dry and then apply something like  heat protector from ion, spray on the hair before straightening with iron, it also adds shine and try not to straighten every day, as this will ultimately ruin your hair and you will have to get it cut off. Thankfully this trend is changing and the big fat healthy looking curl is back. These are fads for a reason.
