self removing a skin tag

self removing a skin tag

Im sorry if this is the wrong forum(it probably is) but there is not one for skin tags so had no idea where to put this.
I have a large skin tag (its more like a little flap/loose bit of skin) than a traditional skin tag.  It is bigger than a normal skin tag but still not huge, maybe about the size of a large raisen.  (it is near my anus-gross i know however it is def just skin and nothing more serious)
I have enquired about getting it removed but was quoted a price of 1500 pounds (im in the uk) as it is considered cosmetic.  That is a ridiculous price for what would be a simple op in my opinion and it is just a little thing, i mean its one skin tag for crying out loud hardly major surgery.
After seeing that price I thought stuff it im going to have to tackle it myself.  Basically I am after advice, I have tried tying it with dental floss at the base to cut off the blood supply after reading this technique can be used (iv had it on a day so there isnt much change so far, however it might not work as it is bigger than a regular skin tag).
Im beginning to think i have to just man up and cut the damn thing off.  What should I use to cut it?  I was thinking a scalpal but I dont know where I could buy one.  I would sterilise it first of course.  I also have bought some antibacterial savlon as it would bleed and dont want an infection etc.  I dont mind if it leaves a little scar, that is preferable to this flap of skin i have there now and would be less noticeable.  Anyone got experience in this area?  I cant snip it off with sharp scissors as it is too thick for that i think and id rather use a sharp blade of some sort to just slice it off.  I have decided im gonna try it this weekend but im worried about something going wrong.

I wouldn't recommend cutting this skin tag.

You need to give it some more time; a day is NOT long enough.

Thanks for your reply, it is the only option I have as I cant stop thinking about this thing and is the only way it will be gone without paying a rip off price to go private.  I have spent about 30 pounds on various things to help, I have a spray that will stop the bleeding as it has a cauterizing effect.  I have a sharp razer blade to slice through it at the base. (i know this will hurt so i am going to realy psyche myself up beforehand) I will sterilize the blade and my hands and the tag before hand.  I also have various  sterile bandages etc as there will be a fair bit of blood i imagine, and also sterilising and healing creams etc that will help post cutting.
I am going to use ice on it for about an hour beforehand to numb it as much as possible which should help a little with the pain.  Im gonna do it as quickly as possible rather than slowly slicing as that way I will think about it less.

Becasuse of where it is I am going to be really careful about infection, and shower after using the toilet and keep the wound covered and clean at all times until it heals.

I will post back afterwards to inform of how it went.
