fiberglass and carbon fiber exposure

Hello Doctor,
Back when I was eighteen I worked at a place where they make small aicraft parts made from fiberglass and carbon fiber. I worked there for two full years and mostly woked in a clean room which is an environmentally ctrolled room. However, at times I had to sand some fiberglass parts and trim some carbon fiber parts. I can not recall if I donned a dust mask / respirator or not, I think I did but I am not 100% sure. I did not perform these job duties everyday: perhaps once a week or every two weeks I fabricated these parts after a year working there. Do you think I put myself in a harmful situation? Is fiberglass and carbon fiber the new asbestos? I exercise on a regular basis and try to run 9-12 miles a week. Will this help my lungs clean things out?
Thank You,
Bryan
