shoulder pain following flu shot

This year(2008) I received my flu shot from a student nurse.  It was taking a while so I looked to see what he was doing and noticed that he moved the needle.  That day I developed muscle pain in front of my shoulder.  This pain has continued for over a month.  I saw a othopedic surgeon who told me to rest my shoulder.  I have good range of motion but the pain is intense and nothing seems to help.  I never heard of shoulder pain following  a flu shot.

I got a flu shot in the fall of 2009.  Almost immediately I began having a great deal of trouble with both shoulders.  I endured the pain until around November; at that point I made an appointment with my doctor.  She was unsure how the two were related but sent me to physical therapy and a rheumatologist.  The physical therapy did help but today I got the diagnosis I have been waiting for....Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder.  After a ton of blood work the doctor found that the shot caused my antibodies to begin working "overtime".  After they finished dealing with the flu, they began attacking my connective tissue.  I am receiving a medication that will cause the antibodies to "stand down" and hopefully will diminish my pain.  I'm glad to know I wasn't crazy and not imagined pain.
